Q: What should I do if my child is unwell?
A: Inform the school and provide a medical certificate if requested.
Q: What should I do if my child refuses to go to school?
A: Contact the school as soon as possible and the school will arrange support and advice.
Q: What should I do if we are going on holiday during school time?
A: You need to inform the school in writing via the carine.shs@education.wa.edu.au
The School Education Act 1999 requires compulsory aged students to attend school or participate in an educational program of a school. Holidays should be taken during school holiday time.
Q: Will the school provide work packages while my child is on holiday?
A: The school is not obligated to provide work packages for extended holidays absences. You may however access the course programs and assessment outline via CONNECT. It is your child’s responsibility to catch up on any missed work upon their return.
* Please note students in Year 11 and Year 12 who miss an assessment or examination without a valid reason (ie medical certificate) will not be granted an extension or alternative examination time and will be awarded a ‘zero’ mark as per the Senior School Assessment Policy.
Q: What should I do if my child complains of being bullied by another student?
A: You should encourage your child to make contact with their Student Services Manager. If the matter is urgent you should contact the school and request to speak with the Student Services Manager.
Q: What should I do if a serious outside of school matter has occurred?
A: You should contact the school and request to speak to the Student Services Manager.
Q: What should I do if I have a concern about a staff member (teaching/conduct)?
A: You should contact the school and request to speak to the relevant Associate Principal – Academic Performance.
Q: What should my child do if they have a concern about a staff member (teaching/conduct)?
A: They should speak to the relevant Associate Principal – Academic Performance.
Q: What should I do if I have a concern about an academic matter for my child?
A: You should contact your child’s teacher or the relevant Head of Learning Area via CONNECT. If the concern is of a broader nature then you should contact the relevant Associate Principal – Academic Performance.
